WOMEN WITHOUT MEN

SYNOPSIS

Women without men suit le destin de quatre femmes avec pour toile de fond le coup d’état de 1953, qui permit au Shah d’asseoir plus fermement sa despotique domination. Dans ce film d’un réalisme magique, quatre femmes se rencontrent régulièrement dans un verger où elles font la fête, chantent et parlent librement de tout. Shirin Neshat a adapté à l’écran le roman de Shahrnusch Parsipur, interdit en Iran. Le film a rencontré un succès international et a ainsi remporté le Lion d’Argent pour la Meilleure Réalisation au Festival de Venise 2009.
